Together, we can strengthen teacher training across our region and ensure high-quality education for future generations - below you can find details of the toolkit designed to support schools take an active role in teacher recruitment.

Strategic Role

In addition to providing teacher training via Embrace SCITT, Embrace Teaching School Hub has played a strategic role in supporting ITT across the North West. It has done this by focusing on three key areas: 

1. Provide Strategic Local Support

  • Developed and distributed an ITT Recruitment Toolkit for schools - available here:

  • Delivered a training session on using the toolkit (access the video here).
  • Engaged with schools to encourage participation.
  • Conducted a follow-up review to assess engagement and share best practices.

2. Collaborating with Accredited Providers  

  • Hosting termly Lancashire & Cumbria ITT Network meetings for all local ITT providers.
  • Acting as a broker to help local providers secure suitable ITT placements in shortage areas.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date master list of placement schools.
  • Facilitating joint recruitment events.
  • Initiated discussions on mentoring practices and a unified mentoring message.

3. Advocating for Quality ITT

  • Encouraged collaboration between local providers.
  • Signposted applicants to their most local provider.
  • Promoted ITT opportunities and updates via our networks.
