Register for the Early Career Teacher (ECT) Programme
You can register your ECTs & Mentors at any time, but ideally as soon as possible after recruiting. For any ECTs who already hold QTS and require registering, please email us at tsh@embrace-education.co.uk and follow the steps below if you have not already done so.
1. Register with Embrace Appropriate Body Service
You can register your ECTs and Mentors onto our ECT Manager platform here.
Whether you choose to join our provider-led programme, or you are taking a school-led approach, it is mandatory that your ECT is also registered with an Appropriate Body for their statutory induction. Please register your ECTs and Mentors onto ECT Manager so that we have all the essential information we need to register them both onto the training programme (if applicable), and also with the DfE so that they formally start their statutory induction.
Once logged in, add your ECTs. On the ‘ITTECF Programme Details’ page, enter the following details if you are choosing the Provider-led route:
- Programme: Provider-led
- Delivery Partner: Embrace TSH
- Provider: National Institute of Teaching
Or alternatively, these details if you are choosing the School-led route:
- Programme: School-led
- Materials used: Select the most appropriate option for your school
- Provider: Select the most appropriate option for your school
If you would like to register an ECT but do not wish to use the Embrace Appropriate Body Service, please tell us: tsh@embrace-education.co.uk.
2. Register with the DfE
It is mandatory to register with the DfE Portal for two reasons. Firstly, so that your ECT and Mentor funding is triggered. Secondly, so that the Lead Provider (if applicable) is given the details of your ECTs and Mentors by the DfE and they can receive access to all elements of their programme.
Register Early Career Teachers (RECT) has replaced the previous 'Manage Early Career Teachers Service'.
Whilst only one Induction Tutor can be registered, ECTs and Mentors can now be registered by anyone in school with a DfE Sign In who has been provided access to this system. You can also use this service to update any details, for example, if an ECT leaves or if their email changes.
Summer 2026 - Induction Tutors should receive an email from the DfE from 15th June onwards asking them to register any ECTs for the 26/27 Cohort. If you do not receive an email, please follow the above link to the RECT service and get help with DfE Sign-In to ensure that the Induction Tutor details are correct for your school.
Information Required to Add ECTs and Mentors
You will need:
- Full Name (as per TRA records, no titles)
- Date of Birth
- TRN
- School Email Address
Important: Link each ECT with their Mentor to trigger funding and ensure a smooth start.
We understand the DfE Portal can be complex. As a Teaching School Hub, we cannot view or amend its contents. Errors may impact programme access and funding.
We appreciate this is a lot of information. If you need support, please email tsh@embrace-education.co.uk. If needed, we’re happy to arrange a Zoom or phone call to assist you.
